In this guide we go through how to identify your own Vallox model, which filters fit it and what a filter set contains – so that you order the right one straight away.

Filters for Vallox ventilation units – how to choose the right model

Vallox is one of Finland's most common manufacturers of ventilation units, and the right replacement filter depends on your specific unit model. In this guide we go through how to identify your own Vallox model, which filters fit it and what a filter set contains – so that you order the right one straight away.

Why is it worth changing the filter in time?

The ventilation unit's filter collects dust, pollen and other particles before they reach the indoor air or the unit's heat exchanger. When the filter clogs, the indoor air deteriorates, the unit works harder and electricity consumption rises. The recommended replacement interval is typically 6–12 months depending on use and conditions.

How to identify your Vallox model

The model designation is usually on the unit's rating plate (on the inside of the door or on the side of the device) or in old service papers. It reads, for example, Vallox 096 SE, Vallox 110 MV or Vallox Digit SE. The letter-and-number combination determines the filter size – "Vallox" alone isn't enough.

The most common Vallox models and their filters

Below are the most popular models for which replacement filters are available from Suodatinkeskus. Most sets contain a fine filter for the supply air (F7 / ePM1) and a coarse filter for the extract air (G3/G4) – that is, everything one replacement requires.

- Vallox 096 (SE / MC / MV) – one of the most common. Fits a wide range of detached-house units.

- Vallox 110 (MV / SE) – a popular model for small houses.

- Vallox 145 (SE / MV) – a model for larger premises.

- Vallox Digit SE / 130 E – units in the Digit series.

- Vallox 75 / 95 – compact models.

- Vallox 101 (MC / MV) – a common replacement-filter size.

- Vallox 121 (SE / MC) – supply-air F7 + extract-air coarse filter.

- Vallox 245 MV – a higher-capacity unit.

- Vallox Ilmava MUH 100 / 120 (from 1993 on) – an older but still common model.

Compatible filter or original?

For most Vallox models, both a Finnish-made compatible filter and an original Vallox filter are available. Both fit the same unit and meet the same filter class; the difference is mainly in price and in which one you choose. The compatible filter is often more affordable, the original is the manufacturer's own product.

What do the filter classes F7 and ePM1 mean?

The supply-air filter in Vallox units is typically class F7, which in the new ISO 16890 standard corresponds to the designation ePM1 55 %. In practice it also filters fine particles and pollen effectively. The extract-air coarse filter (G3/G4) protects the unit from coarser dust. Always choose at least a class equivalent to the unit's original – don't compromise on the filter class.

Summary

1. Check the unit model on the rating plate (e.g. Vallox 110 MV).

2. Choose a filter set that matches the model – it contains both supply- and extract-air filters.

3. Decide on a compatible or original filter.

4. Change in time, typically 1–2 times a year.
