GREASE FILTER MAINTENANCE:

The filter on a cooker hood can be either replaceable or washable. Most often, the metal grease filter on a cooker hood is washable, but even washable grease filters should still be replaced from time to time as needed.

It is recommended to soak the washable grease filter for 15-20 minutes, for example in a sink filled with hot water and dishwashing detergent. After this, the filter is rinsed thoroughly and allowed to dry. Some filter models can also be washed in a dishwasher. You can also use a grease remover intended for this purpose to clean the filter.

It is worth checking the cleanliness of the grease filter every month, as a dirty filter is a fire safety risk. Grease accumulated in the filter prevents air flow in the chimney and thereby increases the fire load. A cooker hood rarely catches fire on its own, but a grease fire that starts on the stove can easily spread, igniting the grease in the filter and chimney. A dirty filter is also a hygiene risk, as the grease accumulated in it is a favorable breeding ground for bacteria.
